Workshop on “Roadmap to Cyber Security in Financial Sector:  

Industry-academia Collaboration” by CACR

A workshop on “Roadmap to Cyber Security in Financial Sector:  Industry-Academia Collaboration” was held on Saturday 11 Jun 2022 at MIST. The workshop was arranged by the cybersecurity wing of the newly established Center for Advanced Computing and Research (CACR) at MIST. 

 

With the recent inauguration of the world-class Cyber Range facility at MIST, the institute is committed to becoming a national hub of Training and Excellence in Cyber Security. The workshop was held to share ideas and views on how MIST as an academic institute can work seamlessly with Banking and FinTech companies to strengthen the national cybersecurity in Digital Finance. 

 

The Director and Systems Manager,  Information Systems Development and Support Department of Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Mohammed Ishaque Miah graced the occasion as special guest

 

Maj Gen Md Wahid-Uz-Zaman, BSP, ndc, aowc, psc, te, Commandant, MIST, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

 

 

The workshop had two keynote sessions. Mr. SM Tofayel Ahmad, System Analyst (Joint Director), Bangladesh Bank delivered the first keynote speech on “Information Security Policies and Guidelines: Enhancing Security in Financial Sector”. 

 

Mr. Md Mushfiqur Rahman, the Chief Information Security Officer of First Security Islami Bank Limited delivered the second keynote speech on “Approach to Design, Implementation, and Maintenance of Defensive Information Technology Architecture in the Financial Sector”.

An open forum was then held where all distinguished guests shared their valuable views, suggestions, and guidance on strengthening industry-academia collaboration in cybersecurity towards building a more capable, equipped, and proficient cybersecurity workforce and infrastructure in Bangladesh

 

Along with MIST faculty members, the workshop was attended by over 25 Managing Directors, Chief Technology Officers (CTO), Chief Information Security Officers (CISO), and representatives from the Information/Cyber Security division of various banks and Fintech Companies. 

With the goal of equipping Bangladesh with a more capable cyber security workforce, CACR is offering courses in its state-of-the-art Cyber Range.
